Welcome To Wachter Middle School Band!

Throughout the years Wachter Band has built a reputation of excellence through performances at community events, festivals, as well as helping develop musicians that have gone on to establish themselves in the musical community. 

Members of the Wachter Band program receive a unique opportunity to learn the life long skills used for making music while creating lasting memories, building long term friendships and becoming a member of an ensemble that you will be able to take pride in. With a little hard work, commitment and a positive attitude, you will easily be able to succeed in this class and build the foundation of a hobby or even a career that you will be able to enjoy for years to come.

Wachter Middle School Band

6th Grade Band

is comprised of all 6th graders enrolled in band at WMS. The ensemble is divided into two sections, which rehearse daily. Much of the class is spent in breakout groups lead by the three 6th grade instructors. Emphasis is placed on the development of fundamentals such as: playing position, fingerings, embouchure, rhythm, and playing with musicality. 

7th Grade Band

is comprised of all 7th graders enrolled in band at WMS. The ensemble is divided into two sections, which rehearse daily. Emphasis is placed on the further development of fundamentals such as: playing position, fingerings, embouchure, rhythm, and playing with musicality. 

8th Grade Band

is comprised of all 8th graders enrolled in band at WMS. The ensemble is divided into two sections, which rehearse daily. Emphasis is placed on expanding the students’ knowledge of their instruments and fundamental technique. Special attention is paid to playing with an “ensemble” sound and improving musicianship. 

Jazz Band

is an extra-curricular ensemble that is comprised of 7th and 8th graders on an auditioned basis. Emphasis is placed on introduction to jazz history, literature, rhythms, articulation, and improvisation.
